Scholars in Residence

This year we will have the pleasure to host two prominent scholars-in-residence: Rav David Ergas (México) and Rav Yaakov Cohen (Chicago).

Rav. David Ergas was born and raised in Chile. He graduated from Business School at Chile University.

He received his Smicha directly from Rav Noah Weinberg, Rosh Yeshiva of Aish Hatorah.

He founded the headquarters of Aish HaTorah in San Jose, Costa Rica.

He took the Latin American direction of JSL, leadership program for Jewish youth in Latin America.

In 2015, R. David Ergas became the Director of Morasha in Mexico, to later join the Maguen David community as the youth director.

Rabbi Yechiel Weisz Cohen was born in Zurich, Switzerland to a prestigious rabbinic family. After studying in Europe he moved to Israel to continue his education at Yeshiva Toras Moshe and later at Yeshiva Mir under Rabbi Shmuelevitz.

He received his Rabbinic ordination while studying for his teaching degree in educational psychology.

Rabbi Weisz was the Co-Founder of ACE Israel, a dynamic High school for the spirited teen. Rabbi Weisz is known for his warmth and understanding of human nature, his deep and inspirational classes, as well as his love for music, sports, and nature.

He lives in Ramat Bet Shemesh with his wife Malka Leah and his five children.
